Bell Ringer: Why do leaves change color in the fall? Read Why Leaves Change Color on my weebly. Answer the following question in paragraph form (you may have to write more than one paragraph). MAKE SURE YOU FULLY ANSWER THE QUESTION. Question: Why do leaves change color in the fall?

Begin Cellular Respiration Lab - Keep your station clean - This is the START of the lab. - When you get to the point that says “set aside for 30 minutes” return to your seats

Cellular Respiration What is the Cellular Respiration Equation? State the reactants and products. Where does cellular respiration take place?

How is the energy in food released for our bodies to use? Digestion: process by which our bodies break what we eat into small, nutrient rich molecules along with waste products. Cellular Respiration: breaks down these small food/nutrient molecules & provide energy in the form of ATP for the cell & organism to go through all other life processes.

Connections:

Cellular Respiration Purpose: 1. Energy is extracted from glucose & broken down into simpler compounds. 2. This energy is stored as ATP.

Cellular Respiration takes place in the mitochondria! More Cristae folds = more energy!

There are two types of Cellular Respiration: Anaerobic Respiration Description: Respiration that occurs without oxygen. 2 ATP molecules form. Aerobic Respiration Description: Respiration that requires oxygen. 36 ATP molecules form.

Anaerobic Respiration Lactic Acid Fermentation Alcoholic Fermentation Animals can enter this cycle Pyruvic Acid becomes lactic acid This occurs in your muscles when you go through strenuous exercise and do not get enough oxygen. The result is cramping and fatigue in the muscles. Yeast, bacteria, and plants can enter this cycle. Pyruvic acid is broken down to carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol Once sugar is used up alcohol level is fixed.

Water Anaerobic Carbon Dioxide – used 2x Lactic Acid Cellular Respiration Fermentation Aerobic Alcohol ATP – used 3x

Finish Lab - Write results on front board. -CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. You cleanliness factors into your grade. - Complete analysis and write conclusion (minimum of 5 sentences) - Hand in when finished.

Homework Finish photosynthesis and cellular respiration pages.

Why is this process important to all living organisms? Bell Ringer Monday  Photosynthesis Respiration Why is this process important to all living organisms?   Write the Equation (using words) Write the Equation (scientific formulas) List the reactants of each process List the products of each process What is the main type of energy used or generated from each process? In which cell organelle does each process occur? Does the process require light to occur?

Examine the chart and determine how these two processes are related Examine the chart and determine how these two processes are related. Justify your answer using the data you provided in the chart.   2. Autotrophic organisms could survive on earth easily without heterotrophic organisms, such as humans. Humans could not survive on earth without autotrophic organisms. Defend this claim by drawing a diagram or by using words to defend this claim.
