October 20, 2008 Bell Work: 1. In your notebook, write FIVE essential parts of a double line graph.

Bean Lab Report Due Thurs. October 23rd

Bean Lab Report Six Objectives

You already know how to…. Obj #1: Compile daily recorded data onto a summary data sheet. Obj #2: Graph data to represent your results.

Today you will now learn how to…. Obj # 3: Analyze your graphs and draw conclusions from your results to answer questions about the experiment.

This week you will also learn how to… Obj #4: Develop a conclusion statement Obj #5: Summarize your experiment clearly and accurately. Obj # 6: Create a cover page for your report.

How am I going to teach you how to do all this?!? MODEL

Then we will practice together….

Finally, you will show me what you learned…. Exactly the same way I modeled it for you. Exactly the same way you practiced it. And you will have a rubric to know exactly how you will be scored

If you don’t learn…. You will correct your mistake as many times until you can show me that you learned.

Today you will be able to…. Obj #2: Graph your data to represent your results. Obj # 4: Analyze your graphs and draw conclusions from your results to answer questions about the experiment.

Obj #2: Graph your data to represent your results. MODEL Label x and y axis Present a title and key Points are plotted correctly and dots are connected. Neatly done – use a ruler

Now let’s practice together… Graph Your Lima Bean Data

MODEL Obj # 4: Analyze your graphs and draw conclusions from your results to answer questions about the experiment. What are the differences between the growths beans in Bag A compared to the beans in Bag B? Why did you include days you did not record bean measurements on your graph? Why is it necessary to have a control set-up when doing an experiment? What can you conclude about the effects of the variable on the growth of your beans verses the control? Was your hypothesis supported or rejected? What are the similarities between the growths of the beans in Bag A compared to the beans in Bag B? What are some other factors that may have influenced the outcome of your experiment? How? Why were the plastic bags sealed?

Bean Lab Conclusion Questions MODEL Obj # 4: Analyze your graphs and draw conclusions from your results to answer questions about the experiment. Answers are numbered and in complete sentences. All parts of the question are answered and accurate Neatly done. Conclusion Questions Why did you include the days you did not record bean measurements on your graph? Name:_____Date:____Period_ Bean Lab Conclusion Questions 1. The purpose for including all the dates on the graph was to show that the seeds continued to change even though their measurements were not recorded on certain days.

Now let’s practice together…

Now, you will show me what you learned…. Homework: 1. Create a double line graph for Pinto Bean A and B. 2. Finish answering the conclusion questions. USE THE RUBRIC!!!!

What is one question you still have about graphing or the lab report? Card What is one question you still have about graphing or the lab report?
