Reading and phonics

The Early Learning Goal for Reading Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others what they have read

Daily story book Handling books Understanding that print has meaning Talking about the pictures Talking about events, characters and settings Please leave it in the book bag and we will change most days when we have time.

Letters and Sounds Phase 1-listening, differentiating between sounds, rhyme, alliteration, oral blending and segmenting Phase 2-alphabet sounds Phase 3-digraphs and trigraphs
