What is a classical school? Classical learning occurs in 3 phases Grammar Logic Rhetoric ***Note: not just by school structure/grade level, but with all content Goals of classical education Lead a virtuous life 4 Character Virtues: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, Temperance 3 Academic Virtues: Wisdom, Good Sense, Science Seek TRUTH, BEAUTY, and GOODNESS

Technology Policy 1st infraction – returned at end of day 2nd infraction – parent must be present to pick up (detention issued) 3rd infraction – conference with parents, conditions for use/storage while on campus Noted in handbook – discussed during first week of class No electronics may be used in academic wing SOL – No use from 8:20-3:45 SOR – Permitted during lunch ONLY (not in academic wing)

Homework Crucial part of learning complex ideas Essential practice of skills ***Note: Times noted are estimates Time spent each night may vary School of Logic (6-8) ~15-20 minutes per class per day ~1 to 1 ½ hours per night (may vary) School of Rhetoric (9-12) ~20-25 minutes per class per day ~2 to 2 ½ hours per night (may vary) Ex: reading from textbook, written assignment, review/study, etc. Honors/AP Courses (may expect up to 1 additional hour per night) Keep this in mind when participating in extracurriculars/other activites.
