Networking Within photography it is very important that you get to know other people within the industry and people who have connections to jobs and ideas. It is important to make yourself known and have a strong network of people who you can contact and collaborate with. This involves making yourself known within the community and being louder than you first think you should be.

Types of jobs Within this power point we will look into types of jobs you can have within the industry and how to get into those styles of work.

Wedding Photography This type of job is one of the most commonly known jobs within the industry as these are the images which most people hold close to them within their household. Wedding photography is a great responsibility as you are in charge of capturing peoples “special day” in a way that they picture it. These jobs are either free lance or most often tend to be connected with a location or business which helps guide people into the wedding that they want and who to book. The best way to get your work known is to be connected to a business who can connect your work straight to the happy couple.

Teacher - Secondary School - Art and Design Art and design teachers prepare and give lessons in drawing, painting, printing, computer-assisted design, photography, sculpture, ceramics and other crafts. They work to guidelines set up by the Curriculum for Excellence and prepare pupils, aged 11 to 18.

Getting Into Teaching (qualification's) To become a secondary teacher of art and design, you must have a degree in art and design (or a similar subject) and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGCE).

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) A minimum of a 2:2 degree or equivalent. For primary teaching a degree in a national curriculum subject is useful. For secondary you must have a degree, or at least 50% of the degree in the subject you're applying to teach. A-levels in the subject and/or related subjects are desirable. GCSE grade C or above in English and Math's. At least two weeks recent experience of working with children in a mainstream UK school in the phase for which you're applying (Art technician, Classroom assistant etc.)

Fashion Photography Fashion photography aims to properly represent the works of fashion designers to the public. Fashion photographer professionals are hired to produce photos that will most likely be used for marketing and advertising fashion products.

Job Description Photos of models according to the clients specifications. Be able to work with studio equipment (Studio backdrop, lights etc.) Establish good working relationship with models and clients. Produce unique creative fashion concepts that will entice consumers. Do photo shoots in a wide variety of locations and styles.

Required Skills Good eye and artist ability. Strong ability to capture and set a certain mood. Artistic detail. Knowledge in photo editing applications (Photoshop, Lightroom) success- drive with a creditable reputation. Good communication skills, make your models and clients with comfortable.

Photojournalism After doing work experience in Photojournalism based in Switzerland I was inspired by this to follow this career line back home once graduating. The career paths that I am looking at within this sector is going around many different events and festivals etc.. And documenting the public within the community. A few of the companies I have looked at have been BBC & Cool FM as they have the job descriptions that fit best with what I would want to achieve as a full time career. Get contacts within the company's and get close connections Make yourself known with getting many emails and keeping up to date with their regular updates and company progressions Try and get as much work experience and linked experience to help improve your CV and help gain skills for your portfolio 

Forensic Photographer

What does a Forensic Photographer do? Forensic Photographers produce a permanent visual record of accidents and crime scenes for use as evidence in court. Forensic photographs are used for measurement or analysis, to accompany forensic reports, articles or research papers.

Is this role right for me? Keep detailed records of the location, the camera, lens and artificial lights. Capture images that have maximum depth of field, are free from distortion and are in sharp focus. Have a solid grounding in police methods. Is this role right for me? Have excellent technical skills in photo imaging. Possess a sound understanding of anatomy. Demonstrate tact and discretion in dealing with victims of crime. Pay close attention to detail. Have excellent technical skills in photo imaging.

Best Route In GCSE English and Maths At least one A-Level Good photographic skills Contact local police. Most start as Crime Scene Investigators then work their way up to being a photographer for the scene.
