Economics Merit Awards

Economics Merit Awards Funded from Economics Market Modifier Award Amounts: minimum $3000, maximum $6000 Based on performance on: First Year Award: ECON 101/102 Second Year Award: ECON 281/282/299 Third Year Award: ECON 384/385/399 All Undergraduate Degree students are eligible Not restricted to Economics Majors BUT Not available to Open Studies students By Nomination from Department; no need to apply

Economics Honors Program Honors Students are eligible to be employed by the department as tutors for ECON 101 & 102 All Honors students in satisfactory standing are automatically awarded a $2,000 award, whether they are full or part-time. Students in the Honors program have access to a study lounge on the 8th floor of the Tory building.

Arts Work Experience

Arts Work Experience Gain paid, full-time professional work experience before you graduate! Flexible work terms for students beginning in September, January or May 4, 8, 12, or 16 month work terms (completing 12 or 16 months of work experience will result in receiving a notation on your degree parchment!) Economics English Conversation Club Open to all undergraduate international students enrolled (currently or in the past) in at least one Economics course Develop your English conversation skills (for FREE!) to help you with your future employment and of course interacting with other English speakers. Obtain department recognition for your participation Four sessions per week, running Monday through Thursday for 50 minutes, with a maximum of 15 students and two native English facilitators Club walks! Treats for Econ majors Good NEWS: The Economics department has negotiated fee discounts for Econ majors. Fees for Arts Work Experience: Economics majors pay $50 instead of $200. Fees for Excel courses with the UofA Technology Training Center: Economics Majors pay $50 instead of $200 (per course, up to two courses). Ask Instructors of ECON 299 or 399 how to get the discount. The center releases certificates (CV building)
