Amazing America By Raphael Morales

Holidays + traditions only celebrated in the U.S.A. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November. This holiday is celebrated because back in 1621 the Indians taught the pilgrims how to plant corn and other crops. The pilgrims gave thanks to the Indians by holding a feast. That became a tradition in America. Now these days, we celebrate Thanksgiving with food like turkey, corn, pumpkin pie, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and many more. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to family and friends and all the good things we have.

Continue of holidays + traditions The Fourth of July is also celebrated in America. It honors the nation’s birthday. The signing of The Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, makes this holiday. To celebrate this holiday, people put on fireworks and have parades. Also some people have picnics for The Fourth of July.

Some Famous Presidents George Washington was the first president of The United States. He was elected because he helped the patriots defeat the British. Another famous president is Abraham Lincoln. Some people called him Honest Abe because of his Honesty. Abraham Lincoln was a great man, but sadly, he was shot at a theater.

More Famous Presidents John F. Kennedy (JFK) was a great man, too. He and Abraham Lincoln had similarities. AL was elected president in 1860. JFK was elected in 1960. Both presidents were shot on a Friday. Both were shot in the head. And the names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.

Some U.S famous food Texas is famous for the steak they produce. Also, Kentucky is famous for the fried chicken they have. That’s where the name Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is from. New York is also famous for the pizza they have. New Jersey is famous for the Italian subs they have too.

Best places to visit in the U.S.A U.S.A has amazing places to visit for fun and to have great experience. The Grand Canyon is very popular for hikers and sightseers. It is located in Northern Arizona, and have millions of visitors per year. Another place is Yellowstone. It is full of forests, meadows, and streaming water. It is a natural beauty of wildness. Washington D.C. is also a great place to visit because it has monuments like the Washington Monument, it is the tallest monument in Washington D.C. The White house is where the president lives. And all the museums are the perfect way to learn history. I visited Washington D.C. two years ago and my favorite place was the Lincoln Memorial. You should go there!

Famous American Companies (with something hidden in their logo) Fed Ex is a famous American company that delivers packages. Their logo is just the word “Fed Ex.” If you look closely though, there is a perfect arrow between the “E” and the “X.” This shows that the company is looking forward. NBC is a network television company. Their logo is a white peacock that has six colorful feathers representing each division of NBC.

More American companies (with something hidden in their logo) Amazon is an online company. Their logo has an arrow under the “M” and the second “A.” The arrow starts at the first “A” and goes to “Z.” This shows that it has everything you need. Frito - lay is a company that makes corn chips, potato chips, and other snacks. One of the chips they make are called Tostitos. The Tostitos logo is the word Tostitos. However, the two T’s ( second one and the third one) look like two people sharing a chip with a bowl of salsa (the point in the “I”).
