The SATs – Reporting Results Results come out in July Reports will show: a raw score (number of raw marks awarded) a scaled score confirmation of whether or not they attained the national standard 100 scaled score = met Y6 expectations. NO FORMAL ‘EXCEEDING’ MEASURE… however, if your child gains a scaled score of 110 – you can consider them as gaining a ‘higher score’ in the assessments
New tests so challenging, that last year, only 61% of pupils nationally achieved Year 6 expectations in RWM combined!! School achieved 87% To meet the national standard pupils have to achieve somewhere around the following figures (highest raw score out of 2 years) : 43/70 - SPAG (2017 -nationally 77 % achieved – school – 92%) 26/50 – Reading (2017 -nationally 71% achieved - school – 87%) 60/110 – Maths (2017 -nationally 75% achieved - school – 93% Writing – teacher assessed – working/ at/ greater depth. Nationally 76% achieved ‘at’ - school 92%
At the higher standard (110 scaled score) it’s really tough Need to get around the following marks on the test (again highest raw score shown): Reading 39/50 Maths 98/110 Spag 61/70 To put this into context - in 2017, only 9% of children nationally gained the higher score in Reading, Writing, Maths combined (School – 25%)
Ways to support your child Study books Feel free to download practise tests (but no later than 2015 please as we use them for assessment) available from satspapers.org, but remember these are based on the old curriculum and are different to the tests your child will be taking Spelling investigations Good night’s rest/relaxing weekend/ brain food breakfast prior to tests! Reassure them – they are being well prepared by the school in the curriculum!
