King Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and ruled over it. The king ordered his servants to bring from Jerusalem young men who were handsome, strong, and smart. He wanted to teach them the language and religion of the Babylonians.

Daniel and his Friends Four young men were chosen from Jerusalem: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. The king gave them new names: Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The king offered them food and wine from his own table but they refused.

The King’s Dream King Nebuchadnezzar had worrying dreams and he couldn’t sleep. He asked all the wise men, the magicians and sorcerers to interpret his dream. The magicians and sorcerers asked the king to tell them his dream so they can interpret it.

The King’s Dream The king refused to tell them about his dream. He asked the sorcerers to read his mind. The king told the sorcerers that if they could not read his mind and interpret the dream, he would kill them. The sorcerers were not able to describe the king’s dream or interpret it.

The King’s Dream This made the king so angry that he decided to kill all the wise men in his kingdom. The king was even going to kill Daniel and his friends. He sent soldiers to find Daniel and his friends to kill them.

The Soldiers Find Daniel The soldiers came to Daniel and told him about the king’s dream. Daniel asked them to take him to the king. He asked the king to give him some time. Daniel and his friends asked God to reveal the dream to them. The dream was revealed to Daniel during the night.

God Reveals the Dream Daniel went back to the king and told him that God revealed the dream to him. Daniel described the dream and it’s interpretation to the king. The king was amazed. He bowed down to Daniel and gave Daniel and his friends high positions in the kingdom.

Daniel’s Wisdom The king greatly respected Daniel and his friends. He talked with them, and he found that they had more wisdom than anyone else in his kingdom. The king was so impressed that he gave them high positions in his kingdom.

The Golden Statue The king of Babylon made a very tall golden statue. He told his officers, advisers, and all the nations to pray to the idol. Anyone who did not worship the golden statue would be burned in a furnace.

Daniel and his Friends Refuse Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not pray to the idol. They prayed to God. Some of the king’s servants saw them praying to God instead of the statue and they told the king.

The King Finds Out The king was furious when he found out. He sent for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The king told them they would be burned in the furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not afraid. They knew God would save them.

The Furnace The king’s soldiers built a fire in the furnace and they tied Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego with ropes. The servants threw them into the furnace. The fire was so hot the servants died.

God Was in Their Midst The king looked into the furnace. He saw four men walking in the fire. One of the men was an Angel of God. God saved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

The Three Were Not Harmed The king shouted to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He told them to come out of the furnace. The fire had not hurt them at all. It had not burned their hair or clothes. They did not smell like smoke.

The King Believes in God The king of Babylon made a new law. The law said everyone must worship God. Only God could save men from fire.

Conclusions We will always have pressure coming from the outside. The fire was the temptation that Daniel and his friends faced. Sometimes it will be a lot of pressure and other times it will be little pressure. What should we do if we are under a lot of pressure? I will fear no evil; for you are with me

Obedience More than all It is important to be obedient to those who God had placed in charge of you. Listen to them, because they are the ones that will make you wise and successful.
