T.K. Hemmick for the Stony Brook Crew Stony Brook Update T.K. Hemmick for the Stony Brook Crew

Now we dry… All the GEMs are in. All the tests are done (twice): Capacitance while connected. Voltages on cables. Glove Box being used as dryer: 50 cfm….~1400 liters/minute. 4.5 ppm and falling…

Odds and Ends: Schedule: Flashing the detector. Dry the detector all this week. Remove from glove box Monday Oct 9. Ship to BNL Monday October 16. Flashing the detector. I personally don’t like the LED option: QE at 250 nm is probably dominated by thermal noise. The real test is QE at low wavelengths! The only reason that we can’t flash normal lamps is that Hamamatsu uses transformers. I am 100% certain we can flash a normal lamp. Transformer in base is removable and non-magnetic circuit is easy to design and build. So…put 4 lamps on the detector…put electronics far far away.
