Relative & Absolute reference

Task 1 Populate data from cell A1 to A10 numbers from 1 to 10 in ascending order. In cell B1 enter =A1. Now auto fill values B2 to B10 by pointing your cursor to the bottom right corner of cell B1 and drag all the way to B10. By doing this numbers will appear as in A1 to A10

This is know as Relative reference , where it copies the exact value relative to that particular cell.

Absolute reference Download the absolute reference.xlsx from my website. Before we get into it lets see some of our basic skills. The data that is displayed should be formatted so that it is readable Check the next slide.

Basic formatting As an example above try applying some of the formatting techniques so that it looks like the above picture
