Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes Strong and Safe CFB-12 CFB-16 CFB-16-F Union® Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes are designed for convenient, secure and safe installation. The fan or fixture is mounted through the box, directly into the joist, making for a strong, durable and reliable installation. All three boxes are UL listed for 70lb fan and fixture.

Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes Easy to Install Easy press-fit onto the joist. Integrally molded ribs grip the joist and stop the box from falling. Then just one hand is required to mount the box, using the pre-located mounting screw.

Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes What does the competition have? Raco - 7120 Saddle Box This box is similar in design and appearance to our CFB-16. Our CFB-16 has more capacity (16 cuin vs 12.5). Our CFB-16 features V-Clamps, for more secure cable retention. Raco’s box has inferior lever type clamps. Both boxes feature two KOs on the sides. Both boxes are made of Polycarbonate, which has higher strength than PVC, and better thermal properties. Both Raco’s and our boxes are rated for 70lb fan and 70lb fixture.

Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes What does the competition have? Crouse-Hinds/Thepitt - TP1300/TP1300-1 PVC Box. This is a half saddle design. This means it cannot be press fitted on to the joist for “hands-free” installation. It has a capacity of only 14cuin, compared to 16cuin for our CFB-16. The material used is PVC, which is inferior in strength and thermal performance compared to the Polycarbonate used in our boxes. Polycarbonate will not crack in cold conditions, or deform in hot conditions. It is only rated to 35lb fan and 50 lb fixture, compared to 70lbs fan and fixture for our boxes.

Saddle Type Ceiling Fan Boxes What does the competition have? Allied - 9370-FR and 9371-FR. Half saddle design. Can’t be press-fitted on to the joist for “hands-free” installation. 8 and 12 cubic inches respectively. Our CFB-12 and CFB-16 are bigger. The 9370-FR features a single NM cable entry, in the form of a plastic connector. The 9371-FR has a NM clamp, called “K Klamp”. Our CFB-12 features two pairs of v-clamps, which gives it greater connectivity possibilities. Our CFB-16 offers even greater flexibility, with two KO’s in addition to the two pairs of v-clamps.

Arlington - FB415 and FB426 Saddle Type CFBs These boxes have capacities of 10.3 cuin and 16 cuin, compared to 12 cuin and 16 cuin for our CFB-12 and CFB-16. Arlington’s boxes feature two KO’s in the bottom of the box, with a “NM cable connector” pre-fitted in one of these. Our CFB-12 features four v-clamps in the bottom. The CFB-16 offers four v-clamps, plus two KO’s (one in each side of the box). Their material is PVC, which is inferior in strength and thermal performance compared to the Polycarbonate used in our boxes. Our CFB-16 is bigger at 16 cuin. The 2525 features a single NM cable entry, in the form of a plastic connector. Our CFB-16 features two pairs of V-Clamps and two KO’s which gives it greater connectivity possibilities. Neither of these boxes can be press-fitted on to the joist for “hands-free” installation. The B708 is supplied with one integrally molded NM cable clamp, and one 1/2” KO. Our CFB-12 features two pairs of V-Clamps. The B720 features three pairs of lever clamps and no KO’s, which is inferior to our V-Clamps and two KO’s on our CFB-16. The material used is PVC, which is inferior in strength and thermal performance compared to the Polycarbonate used in our boxes.

They are rated for only 35lb fan, and 75lb fixture, compared to 70lbs fan and 200lbs fixture for our 56111CFB-BHL and 54151CFB-BHL.

Extra Heavy Duty New Work Bar Hangers What does the competition have? P&S / Reiker - 77702 and 55501 New Work Bar Hangers These are rated for only 70lb fan and 110lb fixture, compared to 70lb fan and 200lb fixture for our 56111CFB-BHL and 54151CFB-BHL. They are a pressed steel design, and look and feel very flimsy compared to our product. They feature adhesive pads on the end plates for temporary fixing. Our design features temporary fixing spikes, which do the same job, without loosing their stick! Reiker do not offer a non-metallic CFB, to compete with our 4070CFB-BHL.

Extra Heavy Duty New Work Bar Hangers What does the competition have? Crouse-Hinds / Thepitt - TP315 New Work Bar Hanger This is a pressed steel design. It looks and feels very flimsy compared to our product. It is only available with the 1 ½” deep box. We offer ½” pan, 1 ½” deep and non-metallic boxes in addition. Rated for 35lb fan and 50lb fixture, compared to our 70lb fan and 200lb fixture.

Extra Heavy Duty New Work Bar Hangers What does the competition have? Angelo/Westinghouse/Fan Brace Inc - 01525/01525-11 “Saf-T-Bar” New Work Bar Hanger This design consists of two square section steel tubes, one slightly smaller than the other, which telescope together. The end plates are tagged in place. The overall look and feel of the product is quite crude. There is only one box option with this bar hanger. It comes complete with a 1 ½” deep CFB. The CFB has ½” KO’s all round. There is a single NM cable connector supplied (similar to that supplied with our 56111-CFB). This means that, as supplied, the box is only good for a single wire in. Load rating is only 70lbs fan and 100lbs fixture, compared to 70lbs fan and 200lbs fixture, for our hanger.

Competitor’s old work bar hangers have asymmetrical end plates. Easy to Install Competitor’s old work bar hangers have asymmetrical end plates. They can topple over during installation (the end user is working through a 4” dia. hole, and can’t see what’s happening). The bar hanger is not parallel with the sheet-rock, and therefore the box will not be perpendicular. The end user must re-install the bar hanger. Our old work bar hanger features square end plates, so it will always be parallel.

Raco - 925 “Retro-Brace” Old Work Bar Hanger Has asymmetrical end plates, which means it can topple over and get out of parallel with the sheet-rock. The end plates are plastic, and are not permanently attached to the bar hanger. They must be fitted in place by the installer. There is always a chance that they could come loose and fail to work as intended. The bar is round and, therefore harder to grip than our square section bar. This means it is harder to generate sufficient torque to ensure a good installation. Load rating 35lb fan and 50lb fixture.

P&S / Reiker - 33310 and 33300 Old Work Bar Hangers These have asymmetrical end plates, which means they can topple over and get out of parallel with the sheet-rock. The bar is octagonal, which is not as easy to grip as our square bar. This means it is harder to generate sufficient torque to ensure a good installation.

What does the competition have? Old Work Bar Hanger What does the competition have? Crouse-Hinds / Thepitt - TP379 Old Work Bar Hanger This is similar to the Angelo 01010. It consists of two steel tubes of different diameters, which telescope together. The end plates have single fixed inch long screws, as well as teeth. To install this product, the user must rotate both tubes, thus driving the end plate screws into the joists. The inner tube is inaccessible (hidden within the outer tube). Therefore, the inner tube screw is driven by the outer, by means of a drive key in the end plate of the inner tube. This engages with the outer tube, when the tubes are fully pushed together. In practical terms, this means that each end must be fixed separately, which increases installation time, and complexity. The bar is round and, therefore harder to grip than our square section bar. It has asymmetrical end plates, which means it can topple over and get out of parallel with the sheet-rock.

Allied - “Strong ‘O’ Bar” Old Work Bar Hanger This has a hexagonal tube, which is not as easy to grip as our square bar.
