Cleopatra’s Needle I picked this monument because I like Egyptian myth and the Greek gods and stuff like that.

The intriguing Cleopatra's needle Cleopatra's needle is a very interesting landmark. The needle is located in London, England by the Thames river. The needle is a very very old landmark. It is also famous for being built for Ra’s temple.(Ra is the sun god). This obelisk also has a twin that is in Central Park, New York. This Egyptian obelisk is a very big landmark, It is about 2.4 meters square at it’s base, 20 meters tall, and is made out of rose red stone carved with hieroglyphs. The needle isn’t actually a needle though, it is just called Cleopatra’s needle because it is skinny and tall like a real needle. This is a another fine piece of Egyptian art, just like the Sphynx or the pyramids.

Why was your landmark created? Cleopatra’s needle has a very interesting history. The needle was Built a great pharaoh of Egypt, king Tut the 3rd which means it is very, very old, but still very cool. This monument was originally built for the sun gad Ra and was placed at the entrance of his temple, but has since been moved to London. No one rally knows the exact date of when this monument was built (or finished) but we know it was built somewhere around 1500 B.C., so as I said it’s really old.

Interesting facts 1 Cleopatra’s needle is in books, magazines and I am very sure it has appeared in newspapers too. I have read books that have had Cleopatra's Needle as a very important place such as the Red Pyramid and the Throne of Fire. These books are both very interesting and they inspired me to do this report. I am also sure of another thing, that there will be a third book in this series from the ending of the 2nd book and I sure hope it has Cleopatra’s Needle in it. I think this landmark is really cool!

Interesting facts 2 Cleopatra was the last Pharaoh of ancient Egypt and the needle had nothing to do with her at all but it may have something to do with one of her great ancestors because she was Cleopatra the 7th but they shipped the monument to London in a ship called the Cleopatra. In fact, the needle could have had it’5s name changed just because it was on that journey on the Cleopatra ship.

WOW Cleopatra's needle has no history at all with Cleopatra, it is just a popular name for Egyptian obelisks. This needle has a very long history with king Tut the 3rd and the sun god Ra. I think that the coolest thing about my project is that I have read books with this monument in. I also love it’s Egyptian history with the gods and the pharaohs.
