President Wilson won the 1916 election, with the slogan, “He Kept Us Out of War”.

MAKING THE WORLD SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY AMERICANS BEGAN TO FEAR WHETHER OR NOT DEMOCRACY COULD SURVIVE IN EUROPE IF BRITAIN AND FRANCE LOST THE WAR CENTRAL POWERS WERE REGARDED AS UNDEMOCRATIC AND MILITARISTIC PRESIDENT WILSON BELIEVED AMERICA NEEDED TO AID THE ALLIES TO MAKE THE WORLD “SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY” APRIL 6, 1917- WITH PRESIDENT WILSON’S URGING CONGRESS DECLARED WAR ON GERMANY
