“but something stopped them from recognizing him”

Why don’t we recognize what Burns in our Hearts?

A child desires to be loved exclusively and without limit

This establishes a pattern of unrealistic expectations

Utopian expectations that needs such as safety, trust or love will be met completely and immediately.

A set of unconscious emotional templates are established, recreated when a need again arises, and acted out in the hope of need fulfilment.

The need-based, hidden, emotional templates push us into behaviours (compulsions) from within the unconscious

we may drag them around in life like baggage weighing us down, fragmenting us, without any real awareness of their presence.

We bring our lack of awareness to our relationship with God We bring our lack of awareness to our relationship with God. Spiritual Blindness

Jesus tells stories about such blindness, and about coming to see again.

Luke 4:16-18 … Jesus went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free”

Basic Compulsive Stances driven by our unconscious needs

The Need to be Perfect

The Need to be Needed

The Need to be Successful

The Need to be Special

The Need to Know

The Need to be Safe

The Need to Avoid Pain

The Need to be Powerful
