Definitions An instruction given to a bank to pay a fixed sum of money on a fixed date each month. When the bank moves money from one customer’s bank account to another. An employer pays a worker’s wages into the worker’s bank account electronically. When interest is calculated on the original sum plus interest earned to date. Tax on deposit interest that is retained by the bank and handed on to the government. Cash: it consists of notes and coins. Issued by big shops and garages e.g. top oil Knows as laser card, used to make electronic payments at the till. An account where a person puts in money to receive a return called interest.

Also known as a cheque book account. The person who signs the cheque. The bank the cheque is drawn on. A cheque that is more than 6 months old. A cheque that is dated sometime in the future. A way of making the cheque safer by restricting its movements. Passing on a cheque to someone else by the payee signing their name on the back of the cheque. A cheque that the bank refuse to accept because it’s out of date, no money in the account etc.
