Student presents to Study Centre for help (or is referred to, or brought to SC by vocational teacher) If student has learning difficulty/disability give them options & explain entitlements (incl referral to relevant Teacher Consultant) Sight documents (if unsubstantiated refer to counselling unit to determine disability) Offer student tutorial support in SC If more is needed direct them to relevant Teacher Consultant for further 1:1 intensive tutorial support Liaise with all areas of support (counselling, TCs, harassment officer, vocational teachers etc) Learner Support 2010 for ALNC Conference

Focus on course requirements and teacher/ college expectations. Make sure assessments are relevant, not culturally biased and in plain English. Team teaching has enabled the vocational teacher to be aware of student language strengths and weaknesses and to concentrate on the content.
