Charge of the Light Brigade is a poem about the Battle of Balaclava which took place during the Crimean War. Tennyson’s message could be... This use of personification in the poem emphasises the dangerous conflict that took place and the bravery of soldiers who followed orders which led to their deaths.

Shelley presents power as an ultimately corrupting force in the poem Ozymandias. This can be seen in the final lines ‘boundless and bare, / The long and level sands stretch far away.’ The use of alliteration and sibilance in the final lines ... The most interesting part of this phrase is ‘sands stretch far away’ because it has connotations of... Symbolically, it could be ironic as the poem or art still remains and is powerful yet the ruler is meaningless now. This ties into Shelley’s message because... Alternatively, this could reflect...
