Agenda 2017 Point in Time Who is counted? Reports in ServicePoint Certification Process

Who is counted? Persons counted in the Point-in-Time count include persons who are literally homeless on the night of January 24th, 2017. This includes both sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons. We use existing HMIS to compile the majority of the sheltered count data Sheltered Literally Homeless - an individual or family living in a supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangement (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state, or local government programs for low-income individuals).

2017 Point In Time Count January 24, 2017 – Night of the Count Who is counted in the sheltered count through HMIS? Emergency Shelter and Safe Haven Programs Transitional Housing Programs How are they counted? Updated client data ART Report Certification

All Providers Should Verify Data Although emergency shelter, safe haven and transitional projects are the only projects included in the PIT Sheltered Count, CoCs are required to report occupancy numbers for all projects on the HIC for the night of the Point-in-Time. Because of this, ALL HMIS providers should verify their data for the night of January 24th to be sure it is accurate and complete. Providers should use participation reports to check their data. Certifications do not need to be sent by projects that are not shelter, safe haven, or transitional projects.

All Providers Should Verify Data Participation Reports:

Requirements of ES, Safe Haven, and Transitional Projects Be sure data for the night of the PIT is entered into the system completely, accurately, and timely Run the PIT Sheltered Count Report in ART Verify the numbers on the report If data is incorrect, identify errors and update the data in the system Re-run the report once updates are made Once data is correct on the PIT Sheltered Count Report, sign the certification page (page 1) and submit to MaineHousing
