Advanced Placement Classes The goal of an Advanced Placement program is to enrich students’ academic lives by exposing them to high levels of scholarship. Students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes have the opportunity to take the AP test in the spring of the academic year. Students scoring high enough may be eligible for college credit at receiving institutions. The AP Program is widely accepted at colleges and universities. Hockinson High School transcript for each student enrolled in an AP class will reflect that the class is an Advanced Placement course of study. Jenn

Running start Juniors or seniors take courses at Clark College as part of the high school program. Grades from Clark College will be used in computing the student’s high school GPA. Spring of their sophomore or junior year, interested students may apply using a combination of cumulative GPA, SBAC or AP scores, ALEKS math test, or other approved placement measures. Admission requires students to have completed their sophomore year in high school and meet entrance requirements. Jenn

Cascadia Technical Academy (formerly Skills Center) Cascadia Technical Academy offers a wide-variety of vocational-technical programs available to students in grades 11 and 12 in the following full-year, three-hour block program areas: Applied Medical Sciences Automotive Technology Aviation Technology Construction Technology Cosmetology Criminal Justice Dental Diesel Technology Fashion Merchandising and Management Fire Science – Fire District 3 Homeland Security Information Technology Systems, Service & Support Legal/Medical Office Applications Pre-Engineering Design Technology Culinary, Baking and Pastry Arts Travel and Hotel Management Jenn

Academic letter qualifications Maintain a 3.75 or better GPA. Enrolled as a full time student. Running Start students are considered full time students for the interpretation of this requirement. Have a clean citizenship record (no referrals). Academic Letters are awarded annually after a review of students’ qualifications. Jenn
