My Penguin Math Book By: Math Concepts: Sorting & Grouping, Number Sentences, Roman Numeral Ordering, Word Problem Solving, Pascal’s Triangle Introduction

Group and add similar penguins, then type a number sentence! Move the penguins that are alike in some way into groups – at least 2 groups but you can have more. Then type the number sentence that goes with your groups. Remember to add “penguins” to the end of your number sentence.

Put the penguins in order by their Roman Numeral. VII IX V Click and drag on the penguins head to move the penguin and their Roman Numeral. IV II X VI III VIII

Type the correct number sentence in the blue box for the penguin pictures below. ? = Count the penguins in each box and figure out what the question mark (?) should be, then type the number sentence in the blue box. Remember to add “penguins” to the end of your number sentence.

The answer is: Day Number of Fish 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Penelope P. Penguin goes fishing every day for a week. She catches 4 fish on the 1st day and 10 fish on the 2nd day and 16 fish on the 3rd day. If Penelope keeps catching fish according to this same pattern, how many fish will Penelope P. Penguin catch on the 7th day? Day Number of Fish 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Fill in the chart based on Penelope’s pattern of catching fish. Then click on the “The answer is” box and fill in the answer. The answer is:

Pascal’s Penguins 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 1 Fill in the missing numbers. What is the pattern for all of the outside penguins? Why is the middle penguin in the 3rd row a 2? Hint: What are the numbers on the two penguins above the middle penguin in the 3rd row? Use that reason to fill in the remaining inside penguins. ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
