Origin Britt and Haley made this up, in St.John’s,NL. We both played Rugby and Soccer.

What ages would enjoy this the most? Any ages 5 and up can play this sport. But the difficulty level would vary per age group.

What are some of the benefits to participating in this game? Stay in shape Coordination Sportsman ship Discipline Leadership Strength and Endurance training

How is this activity played? Soccer Rugby is a mix of Rugby and Soccer. It is a team sport played on a field, and starts with a kick off. The player in possession of the soccer ball is the only player allowed to be tackled, any tackle has to be from the waist down. To score you have to kick the ball through the goal posts or dribble over the touch line.

How many participants are needed to play in this game? In order to play soccer rugby you must have between fifteen and thirty players on a team. The amount depends on the level of difficulty the league is .

What type of equipment is used? Some of the equipment used is: Soccer ball Shin guards Mouth guards Cleats Jersey

Where is the game played You can play on turf or on an outdoor field. It will be played at Bishops College, indoors and outside.

What are some safety concerns? Tackling head on. Concussion High tackling Boot stud size Hard metal in the boot. Body armour Gouging of an opponents eyes. Tripping

What are helpful strategies to keep in mind? Stay flexible when learning how to play. Know the basic play Know how to tackle Know how to use your defence Feel confident in your playing skills Know the field you’re playing on Know how to score tries Be spot on with your kicking Have good timing

What are skills needed to participate? Strength- You need to be strong to be able to tackle efficiently, This applies cause you have to be able to tackle in order to play the game Endurance- Endurance is how far you can run and for how long. You need this because you need to be able to run for a long time during the game Ability to communicate- This is the ability to communicate between players on the field. You need to be able to do this because you need to yell across the field at different players.
