BTEC Level 2 Sport Unit 2 – Practical Sports Performance © D J Nicholls - 2014 Application of Rules in Sporting Situations D Nicholls

Objectives… To consider how the rules and regulations of specific sporting activities are applied in specific situations. © D J Nicholls - 2014

For this task… You are going to demonstrate that you can apply the rules and regulations of sporting activities in 4 specific situations – this will take 2 tasks: Firstly – a powerpoint presentation in which you will show 4 YouTube clips, each one showing a rule being broken in a specific sport. For each you will need to explain why a rule was broken, and what could be done to solve the issue. Secondly – through taking part in specific sporting activities and acting as the referee to apply the rules of the game. © D J Nicholls - 2014

So…part 1… For this task you’ll need to find 4 different videos on YouTube – each one should show a rule being broken in sport. For example – the link above. © D J Nicholls - 2014

The video In the video we see a tackle around the neck – why was this an example of the rules of rugby being broken? What did the referee do in response? Why is it important that this sort of rule is not broken? What risks might this sort of game play present? © D J Nicholls - 2014

Over to you… Your turn – 4 videos – 4 examples. Remember to explain each one. Remember to choose APPROPRIATE EXAMPLES! © D J Nicholls - 2014
