Program Objective The objective of the StrongWomen- Healthy Hearts Program is to prevent or delay the onset of heart disease in middle-aged and older women by increasing access to: Structured, safe, and effective aerobic activity Nutrition education related to heart health and weight control
The StrongWomen – Healthy Hearts Program 12 weeks, 2 classes each week, 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes each 30 minutes of aerobic activity 30 minutes of nutrition education focused on heart health
The Aerobic Component Progression from 15 minutes at low-to-moderate intensity to 25 minutes at moderate-to-vigorous intensity Walking Aerobic dance
The Nutrition Education Component Weight control Eating by HEART: Heap on the vegetables and fruits Emphasize the right fats Accentuate whole grains Revere low- and nonfat dairy foods Target heart-healthy proteins
THIS RESEARCH STUDY – DISSEMINATION Purpose: To rigorously evaluate the dissemination of the StrongWomen – Healthy Hearts Program so that it can achieve maximal public health impact (SARA)
