Introduction Background Response to APEC Summit initiative Booming urbanization Energy security crisis brought by urbanization The new urbanization concept is that Cities will become a new energy production unit The aim of double utilization of renewable energy in APEC in 2030 requires promotion of sustainable energy technologies, products and demonstrations We support APEC partnership initiatives on urbanization and undertake to establish a cooperative network of sustainable cities in APEC economies. We will organize forums, hold policy dialogues, and utilize international sister-cities programs to promote cooperation and share experiences on urbanization and sustainable city development. Meeting APEC urbanization trend Effective completion of the mission of transferring advanced concepts and modes in APEC region in the area of sustainable energy. Sustainable energy technology is no longer a product application. It will be the new engine of urban innovation and it will bring new power to cities’ sustainable development. Part Ⅲ Objectives 1. APEC Sustainable Cities Mayors Joint Meeting aims to form the trend of sustainable development in APEC Cities by proposing initiatives on urban planning, green buildings, transportation, industries, economies and human lives within cities. 2. The APSEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities is to discuss the comprehensive solutions on sustainable cities development in APEC region by cases study with the APEC officials, economy representatives, cities’ executives, urban planners, finance institutions, experts from research institutes.
