To better serve the transfer students “During a Transition, much accommodation is required”-David Tall Transfer students do not only transfer credits. They transfer from one system to another, one environment to another, and one culture to another. Research shows that over 70% students focused on transfer courses in the California CC system never transfer to a 4-year institution - Sengupta, R. & Jepsen, C., 2006, California's community college students, California counts, 8(2). Majority of the dropouts are from disadvantaged groups. Academic support at every stage while crucial is not sufficient. To keep these students on track we need to integrate the support systems (CC-CSU), and provide moral support via role models along with financial and academic support. All the way. In conclusion, CC-CSU Collaboration is of utmost importance for success of these students. 9/19/2018
Community College-CSULA Partnership Goals & CC-CSU MOU Goals To collaborate with attendees from 6 community colleges, CSULA and LAUSD career ladder participating in C³. (MOU # 1 ) To disseminate CCC-CSU resources for CC transfer center directors, counselors, teacher preparation coordinators. To disseminate financial aid information such as APLE, MSTI stipend, TRP stipend, Noyce scholarship etc. (MOU # 1 & 2) To establish streamlined CSU-CCC math/Science teacher preparation programs based on science and math blended models. (MOU # 5) To establish stronger math/science teacher pipeline by identifying candidates, offering advisement leading to early recruitments. (MOU #6 & 7) 9/19/2018
