Norfolk NATO Festival and NATO ACT HQ MODEL NATO CHALLENGE Norfolk NATO Festival and NATO ACT HQ produce a scholarship competition where students become Diplomats representing each of the 28 NATO Member Countries in a global crisis simulation.

Model NATO Challenge

Who? 11th and 12th Grade students from local Hampton Roads High Schools US Citizens Students in good academic standing

How? Complete application Essay Information Teacher reference Deadline December 8, 2014 28 Student Diplomats & 6 Alternates chosen

What is the Model NATO Challenge? A scholarship competition. Students are evaluated on their application, essay and performance. The Challenge is a global crisis simulation based on real-world, current events.

Why? Learn about one of the 28 NATO Member Countries Study with a Mentor from a NATO Country Learn about protocol, diplomacy, consensus building and leadership Build new relationships Top 6 finalists receive scholarships

PERKS Resume building New friendships & cultural exchange Attend a field trip to NATO ACT HQ Top 28 applicants become Student Diplomats and compete for scholarships 6 alternates are chosen and participate in all activities VIP at NATO Flag Raising Ceremony Each Student Diplomat and Alternate will attend the Virginia International Tattoo with a parent/guardian Student Diplomats and Alternates participate in the 62nd Annual Parade of Nations
