Emotional Intelligence is NOT : Cognitive Intelligence (IQ) A standardized means of measuring our cognitive abilities (memory, reasoning, recall symbolic thinking, visual-motor performance) Aptitude A written, oral, or performance test designed to measure a person’s potential ability for performing well in some future selected skill or activity (musical aptitude, clerical aptitude, mechanical aptitude) Leave for notes

Emotional Intelligence is NOT: Achievement A standardized examination that assess the proficiency level already attained in specific performance (grades in school subjects, SAT) Vocational Interest A test that assesses a person’s interests in order to help them choose, prepare for, enter upon, and progress in an occupation.
