Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) Born on July 6th,1975, in New York City, NY, Mr. Jackson lived a life of crime and fear. His mother was killed when he was just nine years old, and he fell into the same path his mother took; a life of drugs and hatred. He began using at the age of twelve and dealing at the age of fifteen. After years of dealing, Mr. Jackson found himself in tight situations with many of his buyers. On May 25th, 2000, Curtis was shot nine times in an attempted assassination. After surviving this ordeal, Mr. Jackson realized that he could no longer go down this path of destruction. Now rapper, entrepreneur, investor, and actor, “50 Cent” is a changed man.

How he's made a difference 50 Cent, even though he is given the wrong image by many people, has changed the lives of many children. It doesn’t matter to him that people dislike him from what he did in his past, he continues to help those who are going through what he lived through. If anything, his past has helped shape the person he is today. Mr. Jackson helps children all around the world, specifically in New York and in Africa.

Desmond Tutu Desmond Mpilo Tutu was born in Klerksdorp, Transvaal on October 7th, 1931 in South Africa. In 1975 he was appointed Dean of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Johannesburg, the first black to hold that position. From 1976 to 1978 he was Bishop of Lesotho, and in 1978 became the first black General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches. In 1976, there were increasing levels of protests by black South Africa against apartheid, especially in Soweto. In his position as a leading member of the clergy, Desmond Tutu used his influence to speak strongly and unequivocally against apartheid. Desmond Tutu has been in the forefront of campaigns against the AIDS virus, especially in South Africa where the government have been slack.

How he`s made a difference As a vocal and committed opponent of apartheid in South Africa , Mr. Tutu became the leader of the peaceful protests against apartheid. Soon after, he became the figure-head in Africa to find a cure for AIDS and to support those in Africa who had this virus. He later won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.

Eugene Edward Alameda Born on December 5th, 1969 in Oakland, California, Gene grew up in many ghetto neighborhoods around the bay area. Gene slipped by and barely graduated high school with a D average. After realizing that he had to do something to make money, he joined the police academy and volunteered in Oakland as a cadet. He saw many horrible things while working in Oakland, and saw himself in a lot of the kids that he saved from his work. He got hired by the San Pablo Police Department, and has since become the Commander. Mr. Alameda has helped many charities and volunteers at the San Pablo Rotary.

How he`s made a difference Father of Anthony Alameda, Gene has changed and saved the lives of many less fortunate people living in the projects. He brought forth the Y.E.S program in San Pablo, which gives these less fortunate children a scholarship to get into college. He also runs the San Pablo Christmas Rush, which is when volunteers take gifts to poor families living in San Pablo.

Identifying with them We identify with 50 Cent because both of us have been singled out and judged. We Identify with Desmond Tutu because we both believe that segregation is wrong and that should be voiced. We Identify with Gene Alameda because we both believe that people should take risks and never look back on it.

Reflection We learned that life is harder than we make it out to be. You can say all that you want to do and say all the dreams that you have for not only yourself, but the world; however if you don’t become a doer, then that is all that those are… Dreams. If you MAKE YOUR DREAMS HAPPEN, then you can change the world.
