Portfolio Requirements 3 inch three ring binder with dividers and page protectors. Three portfolio sections: LEARNER CAREER CITIZEN Please make students aware they are responsible for bringing the binder with the dividers
LEARNER Documents Four Best Works Goal Setting Must be something where you did your best, learned something, and are proud of your work. Must be from 4 different classes. One due each quarter. CITIZEN Documents Activities, Honors, Awards Place copies of awards in your portfolio. Keep track of these for your resume’, and scholarship/college applications. Community Service Activities Not a requirement for 9th Grade Careers If you complete community service hours this year, keep your documentation here.
DOCUMENTS Your portfolio documents should be typed or neatly hand written. Make sure your documents look professional and may be read by anyone. Download Careers Lesson Plans and Forms from the GK Counseling Center website.
PRESENTATION (AKA: Student Led Conference or SLC) Your Student Led Conference will take place in May. The SLC is an oral presentation that includes a multi-media component and pieces of your portfolio. You will have 15-20 minutes for your presentation. The SLC is mandatory - it must be successfully completed in order to pass Careers.
Your Presentation Will Address These Questions How will you contribute to society? Who are you socially? How is school going for you? What are you learning? What experiences have you had that make you who you are? What do you want to be when you “grow up?”
