How do we GO BEYOND THE BASICS WITH BYOD?

USE TECHNOLOGY TO…. Engage students in authentic learning experiences that involve collaboration, inquiry and research Access and evaluate information Synthesize knowledge to create and communicate original thought Develop self directed learning skills Strengthen ability to solve problems and find solutions Model the safe and appropriate use of technology

5 GREAT TOOLS That Go Beyond Basic BYOD

# 1: BYOD CHEAT SHEET What is it? Student password & log-in organizer Placed in clear plastic sleeve in each student’s binder for daily reference. Naming conventions established for all websites are recorded for easy access at home. Organizes all log-in information on one page. Click image to download document

# 2: SYMBALOO www.symbaloo.com What is it? Visual bookmarking tool that organizes all of your bookmarks on one page called a web mix. Can be embedded on websites and shared with students. Tabs enable creation of multiple web mix pages. Uses include Target student links, Presentation Tools, Curriculum Planning, Virtual Field Trips, Logic & Gaming, Unit specific work. # 3. EASEL.LY https://www.easel.ly/ What is it? Dynamic Infographic creator. Infographics are a visual representation of data. When students create infographics, they are using information, visual, and technology literacies. Teachers can make a class and add students - no email address required. Infographics can be embedded on other sites. Easy to use! Cloud based so it is accessible from any device, and free too! Click images to view videos

# 4. TRELLO Click image to view video www.trello.com What is it? A visual collaboration tool that facilitates collaboration and discussion. The teacher will need to set up a free account and students utilize a generic username and password, created by the teacher such as “VarnedoeClasses”, to login. Students use Trello.com for collaboration purposes and to give feedback to their classmates Uses: “Glow” and “Grow” comments on their peers’ Inventure pitches, student reflections, KWL charts, research.

# 5. SUTORI https://www.sutori.com/school-classes What is it? Interactive timeline that allows students to tell a story. Classes can be set up by the teacher and students can easily join the class. Students create timeline stories with images, videos, quizzes, and text. Students submit timelines online to the teacher once complete for grading.
