Hedwig’s Theme By: John Williams Alex Moyes

Composer History John Williams was born on February 8, 1932 in New York City. John Williams was an amazing pianist and he has received over 40 awards for his compositions. Williams moved around a lot, trying to find a good place to study and compose. He moved back to LA in the 1950’s and built his way up to the composer that we know and love today.

Song History Hedwig’s Theme is considered to be the main theme of the Harry Potter series. It was first featured in The Philosopher's Stone. Variations of this song is used throughout all of the Harry Potter movies, and it is very familiar to any fan. This song is also used “behind the scenes.” For example, in Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, Hagrid is heard playing the tune on his flute just before Harry, Ron, and Hermione show up.
