Public Opinion What is public opinion? Total of opinions held about a particular issue (collective opinion of the nation) Measured via public opinion polls of a representative sample of the population

What influences Public opinion? Family Friends Religion School Mass Media (internet, TV, radio, books, etc.) Gender

Propaganda Ideas that are spread to influence people Revealed propaganda: makes audience aware that someone is trying to influence them Examples? Concealed propaganda: presented as fact, sources kept secret
