Unacceptable Use Inappropriate Content • Damage Unlawful activities • Using another’s password, folders, or files • Internet safeguards • Inappropriate Internet content • Personal Information • Sending, posting, or downloading electronic messages or pictures that are inappropriate • Damaging computers, electronic media, or computer networks • Vandalizing the data of another user or other networks including so-called "hacking" and other unlawful activities • Using another’s password, folders, or files • Purposefully bypassing Internet safeguards • Willfully accessing inappropriate Internet content • Unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal identification information regarding minors

Educational tool All users will be expected to follow the district’s Acceptable Use Policy as well as all other state and federal laws, board policies, and school rules. Students who have violated the USD 475 Acceptable Use Policy or any other provisions included in the Handbook will have a consequence.

Labels MUST remain on the devices We are not adding any additional labels or stickers. Run updates every day. Turn it off (not just put it to sleep) every day. Turn laptops off before putting them in their case. Carry with 2 hands when taking it to another classroom. Safely Storing Your Laptop: It is very important that you turn your laptop off before putting it into the case. If you do not power it down before placing it in your bag, you could melt your laptop or potentially catch it on fire. It also blocks the fan.

Cables, cords, and accessories should be inserted carefully. Teachers - Computers need to be charged daily (not in the case while charging)

Turn on the computer using the power button Turn on the computer using the power button. Allow it to come on and the login screen to load. This will allow the computer to connect to the network before the student login.

Students should shut down each day using the Power Options icon on the Start screen. NOT holding down the power key!

Computers should not be placed in a backpack with food, liquids, and/or heavy or sharp objects. Food and drink

Students should make sure the keyboard is clear of objects before closing the device. Unplug all cords and turn it off before cleaning Laptop Repairs – tell teacher or Media Specialist right away

System-status Indicators: Solid on: On Blinks fast: entering hibernation mode Blinks slowly: sleep mode Blinks three times: initially connected to power Off: Off or in hibernation mode There are two ThinkPad logos on your computer, one on the palm rest and the other on the outer lid. The illuminated dot in each ThinkPad logo works as a system-status indicator and helps you identify the status of your computer.

If none of that fixes the problem, you can bring the yellow slip to the Library with your machine. Or, your teacher can send in a Service Desk Request to have Tech come fix the problem.
