Russia During the 1920’s By James and Kyal

Pre 1920-22: The October Revolution, led by Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, overthrew the Provisional Government and gave full governing power to the Soviets. The 1917 revolution outcome was the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II and Creation of the Russian SFSR (The Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) which was originally the Bolshevik Party ran by Vladimir Lenin. Povolzhye famine of 1921 claimed up to 5 million victims. Russian Civil War between the Red Army and White Army from October 1917 to October 1922. The Soviet Union became the world's greatest producer of grain during 1917-21 Vladimir Lenin

1922-25 On December 30, 1922, the First Congress of the Soviets approved the Treaty on the Creation of the USSR. Lenin died in January 24th, 1924 and in May, His Testament was read aloud at the Central Committee.

1925-30 The Soviet NEP (New Economic Policy) (1921–29) was essentially a period of "market socialism" similar to the Dengist reforms in Communist China after 1978. Dengist: Chinese economy period.

New Economic Policy (NEP) The NEP was an economic policy of Soviet Russia proposed by Vladimir Lenin, who called it "state capitalism". Nikolai Bukharin had become the foremost supporter of the New Economic Policy. It was abandoned in 1928. The NEP was primarily a new agricultural policy. The old way of village life was reminiscent of the Tsarist Russia that had been thrown out with the October Revolution. With the NEP, the state only allowed private landholdings.

Interesting facts: At 48, Vladimir Lenin was shot twice in the neck and survived. Lenin had a lot strokes before he died BUT he didn’t die by a “stroke”, he died by a “massive” stroke. His body is perfectly preserved in Russian museum. They had 13 civils wars during the 1920’s.
