Update on Affordable Housing to Board of Selectman 1/24/2017

Danvers Affordable Housing Trust Gardner Trask, Chairman Carla King, Vice-Chairman Don Gates, Treasurer Tish Lentine, Secretary John Alden Stacey Bernson Sally Calhoun Purpose: The purpose of the Trust Fund shall be to receive, hold, invest and/or expend funds for the acquisition, rehabilitation, renovation, construction, financing or refinancing of property within the Town of Danvers so that such property will be substantially available as affordable housing to further provide mechanisms to ensure and increase such use.

Housing Production Plan Strategies in Housing Production Plan 2017 Update Housing Production Plan Endorsed by Board of Selectman 2014 Approved by Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) 2014 Strategies in Housing Production Plan Ensure that all eligible affordable units are added to Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI) [22 to date] Identify and make available town owned land for affordable housing development.1 Create an inventory of vacant, abandoned or underutilized land. Support rental subsidy program administered by Danvers Community Council Partner with private developers

Laurine Road 1960 Tax Taking foreclosure Lot size: 8,140 square feet Zoned R2 (R=Residential) Neighborhood Established with 12 ranch style homes constructed in 1955. 1 Colonial dwelling constructed 1993. Lot sizes 8,000sf – 10,000sf. Current code for R2 is 20,000sf per lot. The Trust respectfully requests for the Laurine Road property to be transferred to the Trust. The Trust will partner with an affordable housing developer to build a single family home, selected through an RFP. The Trust will, as part of the RFP, encourage the developer to work with Essex Tech. The Trust will provide support the for the project through the transfer of the property and provide some financial assistance for the project . The developer will ensure that the property is added to the Town’s SHI
