Lobotomy of European Dictators

Lobotomy Lobotomy, also known as leucotomy, is a neurosurgical operation that involves severing connections in the brain's prefrontal lobe, widely performed for more than two decades as treatment for schizophrenia, manic depression and bipolar disorder, among other mental illnesses.

A topic that fascinates historians is the rise of dictators in twentieth century Europe. What factors led to their acceptance and also their downfall? In your “Medical Examiner’s Notes” you’ll explain on the various “causes of concern” of your “individual.”

Expectations Outline a brain on your poster.   Name the individual and the diagnosis on the poster (BE CREATIVE) What was the dictator’s message and why was it appealing to the people? What weaknesses were embedded in the dictator? What led to their demise? Internal and external characteristics. Internal – motivators, emotional state, memories External – presentation, friendships, physical traits

BRAIN HEMISPHERES: the left hemisphere is dominant in language: processing what you hear and handling most of the duties of speaking. It's also in charge of carrying out logic and exact mathematical computations. The right hemisphere is mainly in charge of spatial abilities, face recognition and processing music.
