Tips for a Successful 3rd Grade Year Remember….when in doubt…..ask to find out

Ask to find out Reach out to your teacher NO Seriously….. Ask to find out Reach out to your teacher

It’s Fun to have Fun but you have to know HOW!! We want 3rd grade to be as exciting as possible, but we have to be safe and responsible first. Keep in mind RRS Dr. Seuss

Big Kid Now….. Students: - Fill out and return their planners daily. - In charge of managing their behavior - Pack their own bags - Collect their Friday work - Complete homework on their own, and turn it in on time Self-managers. Also remember, that students should be focused on managing their own behavior and not on the behavior of others. Responsibility!!

The 3 Main Keys R….. respect R….. responsibility S….. safety Taught in all areas Pg. 4 in Handbook Please review this in the handbook with your student. This will be essential to earning Panda Pride awards which we will talk about later.

3rd Grade is Hard Work! Brains will grow when we focus on having a GROWTH MINDSET

WANT A PANDA PRIDE AWARD? RRS -Respect, Responsibiltiy, Safety HOMEWORK Students must turn in their homework!!!! Positive Attitude Try your best Have a GROWTH Mindset Panda Pride Awards are based first on Effort and Citizenship, higher levels are gained through academics The fist qualification for Panda Pride is effort and citizenship. An academically advanced student who is disruptive in class may not qualify for a reward. They must remain a positive member of the 3rd grade community. specials recess classroom

Planner a Great Tool for communication Used to develop responsible behaviors/habits Sign daily to verify homework completion Students earn a blue ticket for your signature Use as a “messenger” to ask questions a Great Tool for communication Notes in the planner will be responded to that day.

Homework Reading Log 20 minutes a night - given Friday -due on the following Friday Spelling Homework *words go home on Monday *study at home to prepare for test on Friday Math *Tear out a page a day Homework support will soon be available online Check Friday Folder for any “need to redo” work
