What is Title IX? Title IX States: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Title IX is a Department of Education amendment established in 1972. Under Title IX, UNC Asheville is responsible to investigate, adjudicate, and resolve all reported incidents of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence.
What is a “Responsible Employee?” A “Responsible Employee” is: A person who must report an incident of sexual harassment/misconduct when they are made aware of the incident. Any person who has authority to take action to redress sexual harassment/sexual misconduct or Who a student reasonably believes has the authority or duty to report. That’s YOU!
