Supervisor Roles in edTPA Continue to support candidates in their placements by providing feedback to their lessons and teaching Keep in touch with the seminar leader if there are concerns related to edTPA Make sure the mentor/cooperating teaching understands the importance, and requirements of edTPA Planning 3 lessons, with enough time in advance Video requirements, including permissions
As A reminder, Mentors and supervisors should… Give them the support they need to plan, teach and assess lessons Check over their lesson plans. Are objectives clear? Are assessments valid measures of student learning? Use Discussion Questions: During observations, how are candidates: Promoting a positive learning environment? What suggestions can you make? Engaging students in learning? Is it all “teacher talk”? What kinds of questions are teacher candidates asking? Are they asking higher level questions, and encouraging all students to participate?
Supervisor Roles in edTPA Check the www.nl.edu/edTPA site for updated materials New Handbooks and templates have been released for 2016-17 If you have questions about where materials are stored, check with the seminar leader There are livetext portfolios for each program where candidate materials are securely scored
Supervisor Roles in edTPA Please be mindful of what you share with your students about edTPA If you find an interesting support, share with seminar leader, not candidate
