English II Honors Final Exam (1st Semester) In-Class Essay Practice

Practice for Today’s Class For our practice today, the first things you should… Read over the prompt multiple times. Any questions? Read the Hemingway short story “The End of Something” and annotate with the knowledge of the essay prompt. This is not the actual passage you’ll be using with the final exam essay but it’s an example of how you’ll be using an additional resource other than Old Man and the Sea. On the essay sheet, write out a brief organizational plan for your essay. Include examples you’d use from both “The End of Something” and Old Man… and then write out your claim statement.

Further Preparation for The Final Review Old Man and the Sea. Knowing the story well will really help you with this essay. You may also want to consider taking home your writing folder to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses in your writing (but make sure to bring it back and file it correctly). Know Hemingway as well as possible. Look over notes on him/his life as well as handouts you have on him and his writing style.
