We are learning… Newcomers (September): Newcomers (January): Taking Care of Myself (daily routines, seasonal clothing, healthy/unhealthy foods, safety) My Family and Home (family, houses, furniture, activities, likes and dislikes) Newcomers (January): Welcome (places around school, school supplies, alphabet/sounds, numbers 1-30, basic phrases)

We are learning… 1st Graders: Writers: Vocabulary Study (around town, transportation, actions, food, clothes, animals, toys, weather/seasons) Sound Sorts and Writing Writers: Comparison/Contrast Pieces Narrative Pieces (picture sequences)

WIDA ACCESS English Language Assessment REQUIRED for all students who speak (or live in homes) with a language other than English REQUIRED until scoring proficient and meeting other exit criteria MUST be given February 8th-March 25th

WIDA ACCESS English Language Assessment Includes four parts: Listening Reading Writing Speaking This year the test is online. Given over 3-4 days during the school day Students will not miss lunch, recess, or Specials to take the test
