Etwinning in the mfl classroom Bringing the world to your classroom and engaging language learners

About me From Britany in France PGCE at Oxford Brookes University Started teaching career in secondary comprehensive school in 2005 Head of department since 2008 and then Deputy Director of Learning for MFL from 2013 in another comprehensive Been using eTwinning since 2005 and became ambassador for eTwinning and British Council shortly afterwards Trained as Google Educator (level 1 and now working on Level 2)

What is etwinning and the british council Through participating in eTwinning, your school will be able to:  enrich learning and motivation of pupils (aged between 3 and 19) and staff access high quality professional development and ready-made resources raise standards across the whole school community gain recognition for your commitment through eTwinning awards and the International School Award. Search for an Erasmus+  partner to carry out projects with and apply for mobility funding. With over 250,000 registered educators across Europe, why not join the European online community for schools today?

Register before 7 December and get your project started! Kick start your international project with these free resources! From 7 September until 7 December 2017, UK teachers who register an eTwinning project can choose to be posted a travelling eTwinning teddy bear or a virtual reality headset. We will also post an eTwinning wall map, homework and a passport challenge. The pack that we will send to you contains pre- prepared, cross-curricular homework challenges spanning key stages one to five, all designed to help you kick-start your first international project with eTwinning.

HOW DO I GET STARTED? If you haven't done so already - register for free to eTwinning.  *Please note that you will be emailed a link from info@etwinning.net following your registration, which is to verify your email address.  This email can sometimes default to your junkmail, so please check there if the email hasn't arrived. When you register your project, just include either 'Teddy' or VR headset in the project title and we will pop either in the post to you. If you have any questions or need any support please contact one of the eTwinning UK team at the British Council via eTwinning@britishcouncil.org.

Questions time eTwinning is a free and secure online network, where teachers from more than 40 countries can find partners, work on projects and enable pupil collaboration across any subject area. as well as offering free resources, professional development, competitions and awards, eTwinning can be the first step towards the international school award and Erasmus+ funding. • If you are interested in applying for Erasmus+ funding, you can search and find partners using the platform OR if you are already beneficiaries of Erasmus+ funding, KA1: you could find teachers to job shadow or for KA2 use the secure online space to support and manage your project work. • Both teachers and students can store and share their work online in this space and pages can be made public or private. • You can use the tools that already there in the twinspace, like chat rooms, Adobe Live webinar conferencing, blogs to support your project work and meet up with your partner teachers and classes. • You could invite other teachers in your school to join eTwinning to help widen the international work in your school. • It’s really easy and very flexible -projects can be as long or as short as you like. Teachers meet peers from over 40 countries and can dip their toes in international projects. • National projects are also an option –work with someone in another school in the UK.
