Garrett County Public Works Utilities Division Remote Monitoring, Odor Control, and Pump Station Upgrades

Primex Pump Watch Unit The Pump Watch Unit is a Web Based Cellular Remote Monitoring Control Panel

Primex Pump Watch Unit Gives instant access to remote sites. Enables us to view and log Data such as pump amperage , run time, inflow, GPM , and pump cycles. Sends alarm notifications via Email to DPU personnel within 15 seconds. Allows us to remotely monitor wet well levels, pump conditions, generator conditions, and power fail conditions. This unit is an affordable alternative to expensive radio telemetry units. The unit is easy to install and only requires electricity and cellular service. It is equipped with a battery back up to ensure alarms even in the event of a power failure.

Primex Pump Watch Unit The Primex unit has been installed at all of our major Pump Stations to ensure a quick response in the event of a failure or alarm situation. The first unit was installed in July of 2014. It has notified us of various situations including low levels, high levels, and power failures. We have been able to avoid sanitary sewer spills at all of these stations because of the quick notifications and quick responses by DPU personell.

Eco-Smart Control Panel Uses Arc Armor technology in a 3 compartment design to maximize the safety of personnel.

Eco-Smart Control Panel These units have been installed since 2011 at the 3 major Pump Stations that serve the Deep Creek collection system.

120 Volt Ac /24 volt DC Control Control Cabinet 120 Volt Ac /24 volt DC Control

120 Volt AC / 24 Volt DC controls Uses 24 volt DC current for all electrical controls to allow for safer trouble shooting. 24 volt DC current allows the use of 4-20 milliamp Transducers. Allows us to use standard floats as a back up in the event of a transducer failure. Eliminates mechanical controls that often result in pump station failure. Allows us to incorporate the Primex Pump Watch telemetry unit without the use of AC control relays.

Motor Control Cabinet 120 volt / 480 volt MCC

MCC Control cabinet Separates High Voltage from control voltage for a safer design. Houses Variable Speed Frequency Drives. Uses VFD’s to control the RPM of the pump to ensure proper system GPM. Use of VFD’s eliminates “Across the Line Motor Starts”. Prolongs the life of the pump motors by “ramping” the pumps from a slow speed to full speed.

Service Entrance 480 volt disconnect

480 Volt Service Entrance Separates High Voltage from control voltage for a safer design. Allows DPU personnel to safely disconnect power to provide maintenance to control panels and pumps. Allows for easy installation.

Eco- Smart Panel View

Eco-Smart Panel view Allows the Operator safe access to information. Uses Watts / GPM technology to ensure the pump is pumping at the most efficient speed. Logs Pump Cycles, Pump Hours, and other information for proper operation. Eliminates mechanical controls that often result in pump station failure.

Godwin Backup Pumps

Godwin Backup Pumps These units have been installed since 2011 at the 3 major Pump Stations that serve the Deep Creek collection system. Diesel powered pump that operates automatically in the event of a Electrical failure.

Odor Control Purafil Drum Scrubber

Purafil Drum Scrubber Installed at all of our lift stations. Uses a primary media designed specifically for H2S Hydrogen sulfide Gas. Uses a secondary media designed for a broad spectrum of odors including organics and sulfur dioxide. Designed to pull odors from the sealed lift station, and force the gases through the media where it is absorbed. GCPU currently uses these barrels in series to maximize the filtration process. A cheaper and safer alternative than costly chemical treatment.

Odor Control Purafil Vent Scrubber

Purafil Vent Scrubber Installed on Automatic air release valves and smaller lift stations. Uses the same media as the Drum Scrubber. Designed for removal of 99.5% of odors.

Odor Control Oda Log Gas logger

Oda Log Gas Logger Installed in hazardous locations where odor problems may be present. Monitors and logs data in locations where H2S Hydrogen Sulfide gases may be present. Gives Operators data which can be used for better treatment practices. Allows us to download and track the data.

Oda Log Reports Pre Treatment of Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Post treatment using Pura fill Scrubbers
