Endorsement An endorsement is a group of four or more classes that are closely related to each other and to a group of occupations that a student might pursue after graduation. There are five endorsement possibilities: STEM, Business & Industry, Public Services, Arts & Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies. Within most of the endorsement options, there are groups of classes even more closely related to each other that are called clusters. When choosing classes for next year, students need to declare an endorsement and make sure to take at least four classes within one cluster of this endorsement area over the course of high school career.

Most Important Points to Remember The new graduation plans are designed to provide more options and flexibility. As long as your student is selecting courses that meet the following criteria, your student is selecting the correct courses to graduate on the Foundation plus Endorsement plan: Grade appropriate courses from the Foundations chart Grade appropriate courses from the desired endorsement chart (within the same cluster) AND meet the additional requirements below the endorsement chart. Your student is meeting the requirements to graduate on the Distinguished Achievement plan if all of the requirements of the Foundation plus Endorsement plan have been met AND one of the math classes taken is Algebra 2. The endorsement and cluster areas can be changed as long as the requirements for another endorsement or cluster area can be met within the regular four years of high school. Please compare your student’s choice of subjects with the entrance requirements for the colleges and universities your student is most interested in attending.

Performance Acknowledgements Students may earn recognition for Outstanding Performance in one or more of the following areas: Dual Credit course work Bilingualism and Biliteracy College Board Advanced Placement examinations PSAT, SAT, and ACT scores Business or Industry Certification or License
