How to get to overdrive 1. Log on to www.sccl.org Click on Electronic Library 24/7. Click on “overdrive media console” You will arrive at the webpage.

Search for Books 1 Click on “Advanced Search”

Books for other formats

Search for Books 1 In Advanced Search if you select these 2, you will only get Kindle Books that are available.

Nook, Apple, and other EPub 2

Search for Books 3 – Download for all ereaders / formats Click “Add to Ecart”

Search for Books 4 – Download for all ereaders / formats Click on “Proceed to Checkout”

Download Books 1 Select Checkout time 1, 2, or 3 weeks. Here you can choose 7,14, or 21 days.

Slides 9 – 26 for Kindle only Skip to Slide 53 for Nook. Includes Kindle Touch, Kindle 2, Kindle 3, Kindle DX, Kindle Fire. If you see “get for Kindle” but do not have a Kindle, you may selected the wrong book. The rest of this presentation is only for the Kindle.

Download Kindle Books 2 Click on the silver box that says “ Get Kindle Book”

Download Kindle Books 3 Click “Get Library book” *you may have to log in to get this screen.

Download Kindle Books 4 by cable Keep this setting selected.

Download Kindle Books by WhisperNet To get your book Via Whisper Net, select the name of your Kindle ( i.e. John’s Kindle.) To transfer your book by the by plugging your Kindle into your computer, select “Transfer Via Computer”

Retrieve WhisperNet Download If your book appears in the archive of your Kindle when you download it, follow this sequence. Home – Menu – “Sync & Check for new Items” The book should move out of the archives.

The next slide is for downloading by a book via your computer.

Download Kindle Books 5 You may have to disable your pop – up blocker. If nothing happens, click “click here”

Saving the Kindle Book 1 Click “Save”.

How to listen to Music on your Kindle Menu – Experimental – click to play Mp3’s. Song order cannot be changed on the Kindle. To advance to next song press “Alt F” The volume is either on the bottom left or top right.

Nook / Apple EPub Books Before using the Nook or Apple, you need an Adobe Id. One Abode ID works for up to 6 devices.

How to Transfer 4 How to Transfer to Your Barnes & Noble NOOK: Connect your NOOK to your computer with the USB cable that came with your device. The NOOK will confirm that it is safe to transfer files. As a first time user you will need to authorize your NOOK using the same Adobe Digital Editions ID that you created above. Click on the 'Library View' button on the top left hand corner in Adobe Digital Editions. To transfer the eBook title onto your NOOK, drag-and-drop the title from the right side to the left pane where you see your NOOK device listed. The file will be copied onto your NOOK. Close Adobe Digital Editions before detaching your NOOK from your computer. Click the 'Safely Remove Device' option generally found in the lower right hand corner of your computer screen. After the 'Safe to Remove Hardware' message displays, unplug your NOOK from your computer.
