POWERPOINT PRESENTATION Each group must create a PowerPoint or Prezi based on the topic they are assigned. The PowerPoint must be visually appealing (sourced pictures). Bullets must be used to state main points. You will teach from the bullets. Cite everything that is used from other sources! The group must teach the class about the topic. Each group member must participate. Self and Peer Evaluations will be submitted with PowerPoint. Please submit one paper copy of presentation slides to Mrs. K on due date. Each presentation should be 10 minutes and no longer than 15 minutes, therefore no more than 10 slides. Choose Questions from slides that your group wants to do. Each student should focus on 2 slides and everyone must present their 2 slides. (3rd and 4th: discuss) All parts must be compiled onto one PowerPoint or Prezi prior to coming to class to present.

Group 1 GET TO KNOW SHAKESPEARE Date of birth Where did he grow up? His childhood What does he do for a living? What is the Renaissance and how does it relate to Shakespeare? Who is Queen Elizabeth the First? Why was she called the Queen of the Arts? How does that relate to Shakespeare? Who are the Lord Chamberlin’s Men and the King James Men? What is the Globe Theater? What is it used for? How does it relate to William Shakespeare? How did Class play a role in where you sat in the Globe Theater? Why is Julius Caesar one of his most popular plays? What was going on in England when Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar? What were the similarities between William Shakespeare’s England (1599) and Julius Caesar’s Rome? (Focus on similarities between Queen Elizabeth’s Life and Julius Caesar’s life)

Group 2 ROME: THE GOVERNMENT What is a monarchy? How does it relate to Rome during Julius Caesar’s time? What is a republic? What is a dictatorship? What is a triumvirate? What is a senate? Research the political make-up of the Roman Empire during Caesar’s time. Who had the power? How were they chosen? Did the common people have any rights? What happened to the first and second triumvirates? What is the monetary, banking system of this time period? What was used instead of money? Research attitudes toward suicide held by the following cultures: ancient Roman, England, and modern American. Compare and contrast these attitudes. Who was Brutus? What was his position in government? Who was his father? Who was Marc Antony? What was his position in government? Compare Rome of Caesar’s time to the Rome of Today? Look for Similarities and differences

Group 3 ROME: CLASS Who made up the upper class in Rome? Explain their role (Senatorial Class and Equestrian, Patricians) Who made up the Lower Class in Rome? Explain their role (Common, Latin's, Foreigners, Freed people, Slaves) Where do women fit in to classes? How much power did they have? What rights did they lack? What was family life like? What was the routine? Where did Roman army fall in to class? Did Senator and other wealthy people fight in the military? What was the life of a soldier like? What weapons were used? What were the dress of upper and lower class of people? Where did the rich live in comparison to the poor? What jobs were people in different classes responsible for? What was being taught at this time? How were the schools set up? Who was educated? What religions were important? What were the beliefs, traditions and practices of the time? What did the people of this time period do for entertainment? How about the children? What did they do in their spare time? Did it differ according to class? What did these people consume everyday? How about during holidays? Did the wealthy have a different diet than the common folk?

Explain (military history) Who is Sulla and how did he impact Caesars life? How many times was Caesar married? Names of his wives. Why did the separate? How many children did he have? How did he become emperor of Rome? What are Caesar's physical limitations What are Caesar's strengths as a leader? Caesar's weaknesses as a leader? What is the Festival of Lupercal? What is its importance? How was Caesar a tyrant like Hitler? Explain How is Caesar a pacifist like Obama? Explain

Group 5: THE CONNECTION BETWEEN LEADERS Who is Pompey? (prior to Caesar) What was he known for? What is his marital status? What type of rule did he have? (Monarchy, Republic or Dictatorship) Who is Sulla? How do both men connect to Julius Caesar? How does each man assist Caesar in coming to power? Who is Cassius? What was Caesar’s and Cassius relationship? Why did Cassius not like Caesar?
