This Mix will explain my summer internship, and future goals.
This past summer I had an internship with BML Public Relations in Florham Park, NJ. The firm had clients ranging from Lucky Strike to Applebee’s!
I worked on press releases, client emails, media lists and more I worked on press releases, client emails, media lists and more. The firm consisted of about 15 people.
My favorite part about my internship was being able to run a restaurants Instagram. I was able to generate 50% more followers and gain more attention to the company website!
Another fun part about my job was recording promotional videos for restaurants. I was filmed eating a burger at a restaurant for National Burger Day, which got thousands of views and shares!
I was able to attend and help set up Monster Jam at MetLife I was able to attend and help set up Monster Jam at MetLife! I had the chance to meet the drivers, walk on the field and spend the day in the monster trucks!
I also did a LOT of media pitching I also did a LOT of media pitching. Calling news outlets was a challenge because many reporters were uninterested in free press.
However, I did have a great amount of success on certain pitches, which made it worth it. My most successful pitch was: a total of 14 placements, generating over 546,900 consumer media impressions.
Since then, I have been working very hard to get an entry-level position in the media field, however I am no longer interested in Public Relations. I would like to get a job in New York City.
I have had two interviews thus far, both in Washington, D.C.
With so many job applications, and interviews it has been a challenge to stay on top of my school work. Overall, my senior year has been the craziest and busiest of all my years at JMU!
I am currently and intern for The Daily Duke which is apart of JMU’s Marketing and Communications department! Its been a lot of fun writing stories and doing marketing for JMU.
