One way is as good as another – pluralism There is no absolute truth – relativism Living is doing what you want to do – tolerance In this inclusive world in which we live, Jesus makes an exclusive claim in John 14:6.

The pronoun “I” is emphatic. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The pronoun “I” is emphatic. The – not a way – The way! The – not a truth – The truth! The – not a life – The life!

Context of John 14:6 – they are troubled (14:1, 27) – He is comforting them with these words. God didn’t give us His word so that we could explain it to others, but that we might experience it ourselves and live it out for others to see Christ in us!

“There are many ways to get to Washington, DC.” “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” “There are many ways to get to Washington, DC.” We are not going to DC; we are going to Heaven and there is just one way.

“I don’t know about that.” “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” “I don’t know about that.” Read the gospel of John and see how it washes over you.

“I am the way.” Heaven was a real place to Jesus, not a state of mind – John 6:38 He came so that we might go – John 14:1-6; Psalm 23:6 The wrong way will not lead us to Heaven – Matthew 7:13-14 The wrong way will not lead us to blessings that are only to be found in Him – Ephesians 1:3

“I am the truth.” Truth – aletheia – objectively, opposed to what is false, of a truth, in reality, in fact – Thayer’s Absolute truth does it exist and it’s/His name is Jesus! John 1:1, 14 – Word – logos – communication John 1:14 – “full of grace and truth” John 1:17 – “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” Colossians 2:2-3 “…Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge – vs. 8-10

“I am the truth.” Creed – creedo – “I believe” – Christ is my creed! Organization – Organism – living – I am a member of His body! Religious System – relationship – I am in Christ! He is my Savior!

“I am the life.” Life – zoe – vitality, animate, opposite of dead – Thayer’s He is the source and giver of life – Colossians 1:16 – by Him all things were created Acts 3:15 – the Author of Life John 1:4; 14, 18 – In Him was life 1 John 1:1-3 – The Word of Life, manifested, seen, that eternal life John 10:10 – abundant life John 3:16 – have everlasting life 1 Timothy 4:8 – the life that now is and of that which is to come 2 Timothy 1:10 – abolished death and brought life and immortality 1 John 5:20 – the true God and eternal life

“I am the life.” The walking dead are those who have not accepted the way, the truth, and the life – Ephesians 2:1-3 – dead, walking, disobedient John 3:36 – belief, unbelief, everlasting life, wrath 1 John 5:11-12 – no Son, no life Jesus calls, “Come to Me…” – Matthew 11:28

“I am the way, the truth, and the life “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He did not claim to have access to the way. He did not claim to know the truth. He did not claim to be in contact with the life of the Father.

No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Believe John 14:6 and trust that if you act upon it you will be in the way, you will know truth, you will not only find life, but you will live and when Jesus comes again He will introduce you as His brother, to our Father in Heaven.
