SKYLINE SKYLINE HAS CHANGED THE WAY THE POLEBOX CARD SHOULD BE WIRED AND ALL FUTURE NEW INSTALLS WILL BE DONE THIS WAY. IF YOU GO TO A SITE TO WORK ON THE SIGN AND ARE ABLE TO ACCESS MAIN CONTROL BOARD INSIDE SIGN. PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS WIRED THIS NEW WAY.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? WE ARE COMPLETING THESE WIRE CHANGES SO THE STORE AND SIGN WILL COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY. THE WAY IT IS CURRENTLY WIRED, THE RADIO COMMUNICATION GOES THROUGH THE POLEBOX CARD IN ORDER TO REACH THE MOTHERBOARD INSIDE THE SIGN. WE ARE ELIMINATING THIS STEP SO THAT IF THE POLE BOX CARD OR THE 4” JUMPER CABLE FAILS THEN THE SIGN’S COMMUNICATIONS WILL STILL WORK AND SIGN WILL CHANGE PRICES AS REQUESTED BY THE P.O.S.

THIS IS CURRENTLY HOW THE POLE BOX CARD IS WIRED THIS IS CURRENTLY HOW THE POLE BOX CARD IS WIRED. WITH A LOOP THROUGH TO THE SIGN. WE WILL NO LONGER NEED TWO CABLES TO THE POLE BOX CARD FROM INSIDE THE SIGN. TURN OFF THE POWER TO SIGN. DISCONNECT THE WIRES TERMINATED ON TB-1.

LEAVE THE WIRES TERMINATED ON TB-3 LEAVE THE WIRES TERMINATED ON TB-3. MAKE SURE ALL WIRES ARE CONNECTED IN THE CORRECT PUSH-DOWN PIN. NO NEED TO STRIP WIRES BEFORE PUSHING DOWN INTO THE SLOTS. MAKE SURE THAT THE GREEN/WHITE AND WHITE/GREEN WIRES ARE TERMINATED. THESE ARE THE POWER WIRES THAT GIVE THE HANDHELD POWER WHEN PLUGGED IN.

THE WIRES ON THE RADIO BACK PLATE, WITH THE ORANGE PUSH DOWN PINS, CURRENTLY GO TO TB-1 ON THE POLE BOX CARD. CUT THIS CABLE WITH ENOUGH SLACK TO REACH THE WHITE TERMINAL BLOCK. STRIP ENDS OF THE WIRES AND CONNECT ONLY THE BLUE/WHITE, WHITE/BLUE, ORANGE/WHITE, WHITE/ORANGE, AND THE GROUND TO THE TERMINAL BLOCK. THE GREEN WIRES ARE THE POWER WIRES AND ARE NOT NEEDED BECAUSE THE BACKPLATE GETS POWER FROM THE DISTRIBUTION BOARD THROUGH THE RED AND BLACK WIRES.

THIS IS HOW THE WIRING WILL LOOK ON THE RADIO BACKPLATE WHEN YOU ARE DONE INSIDE THE SIGN. COMPLETING THIS WIRING CHANGE WILL ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR THE 4” JUMPER CABLE INSIDE THE POLE BOX. SO IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE JUMPER CABLE DO NOT BE ALARMED. CHECK THE WIRING IN THE SIGN BECAUSE THE JUMPER MAY NO LONGER BE NECESSARY.

RESTORE POWER BACK TO THE SIGN. CHECK TO BE SURE THAT THE SIGN RECIEVES COMMUNICATION FROM THE HANDHELD THROUGH THE POLE BOX PORT AT BOTTOM OF SIGN THAT READS “HANDHELD TO SIGN”. BE SURE THE SIGN COMMUNICATES THROUGH THE RADIOS FROM THE PROTOCOL CONVERTER TO THE SIGN. CONFIRM THROUGH HELPDESK THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO CHANGE THE PRICE. HAVE THEM CHANGE PRICES SEVERAL TIMES TO TEST ACCURATELY. PLEASE TEST ALL COMMODITIES. GET THE HELPDESK’S TICKET# AND WRITE IT IN YOUR WORK ORDER NOTES.
